While I've been working on the site features, like recent stories / popular stories / random stories, I have occasionally been clicking through to read some of my older stories.
Sometimes the writing and ideas seem especially amateurish, but reading them reminds me how much fun it was to write regularly, even when the stories were just "girl meets boy in Situation X, girl falls into bed with boy" rather than having any more interesting backstory, which I've been trying to develop for the last few years.
So while I am trying to write stories with more interesting premises, I forget how much fun it was when I was dropping a new story every few weeks. And, remembering that, I'd like to try to publish stories more frequently than I have been doing.
I started trying to keep notes of ideas for quick-and-dirty stories. (Not too dirty, there are ten thousand stories at literotica that will fit that bill 🙂.) But I liked the first idea so much that it didn't stay as a note, and now I've finished it. Time to go back and think of other things to write.
The title is a variant of the aphorism that's usually written "ars longa, vita brevis," or "art endures while life is short." Or, it takes a long time in a short life to acquire the skills for art/craft. Chaucer said "The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne," and my protagonists are all about perfecting their art.
